ID Fight Choreographers are specialists who facilitate the process of creating dramatic action that is safe and appropriate to the ability of the participants involved. Fights are devised in collaboration with the director and can vary widely from true realism to outright fantasy depending upon the requirements of a particular production and the director's vision. Whether it is a simple slap or running a second unit for large action sequences, ID Fight Choreographers can create all the drama with none of the crisis.

All ID Fight Choreographers are experienced working industry professionals. ID matches fight choreographers who meet the requirements of equity Fight Director guidelines to the appropriate productions. Other choreographers are available for work on productions that are not subject to Equity guidelines. As such all ID Fight Choreographers meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Equity registered fight director.
• Certified stage combat teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat, British Academy of Dramatic Combat, Academy of Performance Combat, Society of American Fight Directors or equivalent organisation as recognised by Independent Drama.

Independent Drama provides experienced fight performers for theatre, film and motion capture.

ID Fight Performers are highly skilled in theatrical combat (that's fighting and acting at the same time). Whether you need to cast a single fight performer for a play, a hoard of warriors for your film, or motion capture actors for your computer game, ID Fight Performers can perform all the drama with none of the crisis.

Fight CVs
Fight CV’s are categorised into Combatants and Advanced Actor Combatants.

Advanced Actor Combatants hold a current advanced certification from a recognised professional stage and screen combat accrediting organisation and have completed a minimum of 120 hours of acredited training.

Combatants have achieved the following:

• A minimum of 85 hours accredited teaching from a recognised professional body leading to stage combat qualifications at "pass" or above.

OR

• Specialist skills/relevant experience - where fight performers can demonstrate an equivalent qualification or proof of experience for any of the above criteria, an independent assessment with ID fight choreographers has been completed.
• Additional stage combat training outside of accredited courses.

ID Fight Unit

The ID Fight Unit provides the talent, equipment and experience to create exciting and safe action sequences for your production. The Unit is always led by one of our experienced fight choreographers and consists of our most skilled and experienced fight performers. In addition to providing fight crew, the ID Fight Unit also has in-house production services and can provide full second unit support.

Cast / Talent Fight Training

ID Cast Training provides effective and safe instruction for actors who have been cast in or wish to audition for roles which require theatrical combat skills. Training can be delivered to an entire cast or on a one-to-one basis and is devised specifically around production requirements and the actor’s physical aptitude.

Our instructors are all certified teachers with either the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat, British Academy of Dramatic Combat, Society of American Fight Directors or equivalent organisation as recognised by Independent Drama.

We also have specialists in fitness training, professional body building and numerous martial arts to compliment our skill based training to prepare and safeguard cast for the rigours of dramatic action.

ID Kit / Weapon Hire

ID Kit can provide weapons and props for your production that are designed specifically for theatrical use. With a wealth of knowledge, ID fight choreographers can help you choose the right tools for the job, taking into consideration historical appropriateness, character profiles and above all safety.

Independent Drama also works with writers and directors to design and produce new weapons, props and costumes made specifically for your production. Whether creating a fantasy world, sci-fi universe or lost civilisation, our fight choreographers and crafts team can bring your ideas to life.

Certified Teachers

Independent Drama provides teaching services for a wide range of institutions including professional drama schools, universities, colleges, drama clubs and local authorities. Stage combat has increasingly become an integral module on drama and dance degrees providing a tangible and practical skill for students.

Independent Drama teachers are all certified by Equity recognised stage combat teacher training organisations. This means they have all undergone specialised training in teaching stage and screen combat. As working industry professionals and advanced fight performers themselves, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom.

For larger classes where teaching assistants may be required Independent Drama also has a number of highly qualified teaching assistants. These are all advanced actor combatants providing an additional expert eye when required.

Courses & Workshops

ID Courses cater for and all levels of ability from complete beginner to experienced fight performer. Courses are run by certified stage combat teachers who are working industry professionals. Many of our courses lead to accredited industry recognised qualifications with stage combat examining bodies such as the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat and the British Academy of Dramatic Combat.

ID Workshops are shorter courses designed to explore specialist topics and pack in as much fun as possible. We have courses and workshops suitable for both adults and children and we can design workshops around specific requests. Our workshops are popular choices with schools, drama clubs and corporate entertainment companies.

Vocal Coaching

Vocals are a crucial aspect of any fight. Independent Drama works with actors to explore how to vocally score fights so that they give a dramatic performance night after night without damaging their vocal chords. We also have specialist vocal and singing coaches should actors require additional voice training.

Additional Skills4Actors

Independent Drama has teamed up with Skills4Actors to offer additional skills based training for our actors.

Skills4Actors source the best coaches and industry professionals from around the world, in order to create unique and dynamic learning experiences for actors. Independent Drama are heading up the combat side of things but there are many additional skills actors need to gain and upkeep for a successful and fulfilling career.

Throughout the year Skills4Actors will offer a range of bespoke workshops and classes, focused on helping actors reach their full casting potential.
